Where to start…
September 3, 2007
So the story up to this point: Steph and I found a great place in Carroll Gardens, Brooklyn and moved in August 6. We’ve found most of the furniture, kitchen utensils, etc. we’re going to need over the next few years while I’m in school at ITP, and have been spending a bit of time getting to know our neighborhood, as well as Brooklyn and Manhattan in general a bit better.
So far, we’ve found the local grocery stores (Met for most standard stuff, about 4 blocks away, a health food store about 3 blocks away and a Fairway Market for major shopping trips every few weeks, that’s really quite big & has a very nice cheese section, among other things).
We made a trip down to Coney Island last weekend, checked out the beach, rode on the Cyclone and some crazy spinny ride, got in some skee ball and had a generally good time. Most of last week I was doing school orientation stuff and getting my ID, registering for classes, etc.
Friday I tried out a Silk class at the Trapeze School New York (still prefer static trapeze, but it was nice to get back into aerial), and Saturday Steph and I bought cheap-o Huffy bikes at the Astor Place K-Mart… they’re not much fun to take on the subway, but good for getting around in Brooklyn.
Classes start tomorrow, and I’m heading in Wednesday to talk to some folks about an internship in assistive technology (working on building, refining & testing devices to help people with different needs for rehabilitation… i’m really excited about this one).
